An election through the internet

When mobility is the hot issue of the moment, there is some paradox in organizing a paper vote and obliging everyone to physically go to a voting session. In this context, a company may wish to set up a voting system through the internet for the share holders and the governing board or for its employees.

Beside the technological challenge, security and verifiability are crucial elements to the success of the project. BlueKrypt can supervise the security of the computer system as well as of the voting software, but also play the role of external auditor for the validation of the results.

Framework

The Helios system, verifiable voting system enables the electors to trust the election process. Indeed, this system:

  • Offers the elector a wide control of the whole process. At each step, he can check that everything happened correctly, through the internet notice board, he can control that his vote was effectively recorded.
  • Guarantees the confidentiality. For example: The system can produce the weighted calculation of the votes submitted by the electors without allowing anyone (not even a computer) to know who voted for whom.
  • Makes a erroneous vote impossible: On the one hand, the elector is invited to confirm his vote, and on the other hand he can start again if he thinks that he has made a mistake or that a technical problem occurred (it is one of the original features of the system).
