In Brussels, on 15th January 2014, D.G. CONNECT Unit "Trust and Security" presented the digital security aspects of the Horizon 2020 Programme.

Presented subjects:

  • Privacy
  • Cybersecurity, Trustworthy ICT (cryptography, security-by-design)
  • Risk Management

Registered at European level, BlueKrypt can take part in one or the other consortium that would meet its interests.

Horizon 2020 is a European Union programme financing research and innovation. It is the third largest programme in terms of financial means available as it foresees an investment of 80 billion euros between 2014 and 2020

The Horizon 2020 framework programme fits neatly in the Europe 2020 strategy targeting a growth in the fields of employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and energy for the next ten years.

SMEs have a substantial innovation potential and their flexibility allows them to launch new revolutionary technologies and innovation on the market of services. Horizon 2020 aims at helping fast growing companies with a particular consideration towards SMEs encouraging among other things an increased participation of micro-companies.

Some 15% of the total combined budgets could be dedicated to SMEs. Those include the specific chapters dealing with "Societal challenges" and the specific "Industrial Primacy" objective.
